ABSTRACT
Concrete
filled steel box members have recently experienced a renaissance in their use
throughout the world. This has occurred
due to the significant advantages that the construction method can
provide. In this thesis, an experimental
study has been carried out to study the flexural behavior of concrete filled
steel box members. To ascertain the flexural behavior of these members,
experiments were conducted by carrying out a two-point loading beam test. This
beam test provided a flexural zone in the presence of shear. The main objective
of this study is to find the ultimate moment carrying capacity of concrete
filled steel box members. For this
present investigation, concrete strengths used in the test specimens achieved
mean compressive strengths between 32 and 44 MPs at the time of testing and the
thin- walled concrete filled steel box members were manufactured using steel
plate of 3 mm nominal thickness. Based on the experimental investigations, the
variation in the moment carrying capacity of concrete filled steel box members
and conventional reinforced cement concrete (theoretical) were predicted
